Summary
An in-app task management system designed for a B2B SaaS performance enablement platform serving field sales managers, distributors, and brand representatives across global markets. The To-Do feature consolidates system-generated tasks (recommended actions based on user activity and learning programs) with self-created personal tasks into a single unified list. Each task can carry rich context — related contacts, attachments, sales scripts, and shareable links — turning the list from a passive reminder into an active execution tool that drives daily sales workflows.

The Challenge
Field sales users on the platform receive a constant stream of system-recommended actions: follow up with a contact, schedule a meeting, send a sample, complete an onboarding step. Without a structured surface, these recommendations got lost in notifications or ignored entirely — undermining the platform's core promise of guiding users toward measurable performance outcomes.
The existing implementation treated to-dos as static reminders. Users had no way to act on a task without leaving the list, attachments lived in separate views, and accidental status changes — caused by an easy-to-trigger checkbox — corrupted manager-facing progress reports. The core challenge was to redesign the To-Do feature into an execution-ready surface: dense enough to scan dozens of items at once, rich enough to hold full task context, and forgiving enough to handle accidental input without escalating to support.
The Solution
I designed a focused task management experience built around five core patterns — each addressing a specific friction point in the daily workflow.
Scannable List with Source Differentiation: Compact card layout with task title as the focal point and meta row (source, category, timestamp) for context. Distinct iconography separates System-recommended from Personal tasks for rapid scanning.
Contextual Side Drawer: Task details open in a right-side drawer instead of a full-page transition — preserving list context. Each task can carry a related person and rich attachments (PDF, images, sales scripts, video) in a single view.
Multi-Channel Send Flow: A second-level drawer surfaces native communication channels — Email, SMS, Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram, WeChat, LinkedIn, KakaoTalk, Line — adapting to regional preferences across global distributor markets.
Reversible Action States: Complete and Decline trigger a 5-second countdown with inline Undo — protecting task status data, which feeds directly into manager-facing performance reports.
Inline Task Creation: New tasks are created in a side drawer with optional metadata (action theme, related person, reminder) gated behind toggles — short form for quick capture, expandable for richer entries.
Responsive Across Devices: Drawers convert to bottom sheets on mobile, primary actions shift to thumb-reach zones, and touch targets follow platform-native ergonomics for one-handed field use.

The Impact
Reduced execution friction: Users complete sales tasks without leaving the list — attachments, scripts, and communication channels are accessible from within the task drawer.
Fewer accidental status changes: The 5-second undo pattern on Complete and Decline eliminated a long-standing source of data corruption in manager-facing progress reports.
Faster outreach via multi-channel send: Pre-composed messages with attached content reduce task execution to a single channel-pick action — supporting global teams across 10+ regional messaging platforms.
Higher task throughput: The compact card layout and inline actions enable users to process more tasks per session compared to the previous list-and-detail-page pattern.
Mobile-ready field workflow: Full responsive adaptation enables distributors and sales reps to manage their daily task queue from the field, on the device they actually use.
